SEO (search engine optimization):

Eagle Studios provides basic SEO for all the sites we create.

For starters let's take a look at the difference between SEO and Traffic Driving.

SEO is about increasing website visibility through the use of title, description and keywords/key phrases  to increase site traffic by  terms used in search engines to get organic search results. Relevancy is the bottom line to successful SEO.

Traffic Driving is about increasing website traffic (visitors to your website) through the use of SEO, Advertising Campaigns, JV Partnerships, Direct Mail, Social Media etc.

See the difference? They both do the same thing, increase traffic however there are two very different schools in achieving traffic results.

To put this into perspective, we will give you this scenario. You have a world map hanging on your wall, you take a dart and throw it at the map. The dart sticks to the wall and pin points a country and the nearest town. You then book a flight and go to that town. You find a phone book for that town and randomly open it to a page and while blindfolded you place your finger on one of the listings.  You flag a taxi and go to that address and knock on the door. What are the chances of you actually knowing that person personally?

People can not find you if they do not know you exist on the world wide web. Your website is like a canoe in the middle of the ocean. To make things worse you have hungry sharks swimming in circles all around you. There is no help in sight. So you now have two options SEO and Driving Traffic or both. SEO will send a ship to rescue you, Traffic Driving will get you to land and on that favorite beach sipping a drink with a umbrella bobbing at the top of your glass. Both are equally important.

There are many methods as to how people will find you on the internet but only two top level phrases that describe how to increase site visibility and they are SEO and Traffic Driving. Many will argue that they are one in the same however as in previous discussion we have described the difference.

Let's break SEO down a little further and look at the basic components:

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

• Begins with website creation

• Each and every page will be looked at by the search engine robots.

• Meta Tags:

      Title: Short and simple.

      Description: 200 words or less.

      Keywords: 10 or less

• Content:

Page Content: Actual text on the page and the relevancy to meta tags.

Pictures: Use "alt" in coding to describe the picture. Search "bots" can not see the pictures on your site.

• Search engine submission:

      Google

      Yahoo

      Bing

• Get Ranked by the Search Engine Site.

SEO has become a full time field. There are top companies that specialize in this area and charge top dollar for their services. For many of these companies you will get results, however no one can promise you top page rank. The point we are making here is if you do not have the basics of SEO built into your website from the beginning it will all have to be re-worked when SEO becomes of importance to you.

SEO is a competition. You are being judged by search engine companies and given a rank. Page rank will determine how your website is placed on the search list.

Your initial rank is determined by several factors. Each of these factors plays a major role on how well your site will show up based on search terms. This is where the word algorithm comes into play. An algorithm  is a highly specialized program that's sole purpose is used for data collection or analysis. Web Bots analyzes the  data on your website and based on known factors compares your site to these factors. Well over 200 attributes can be looked at and compared in this process to return Page Rank.

Many Search Engine Companies are not that sophisticated and use data collection from the main companies to issue their page rank. So the question is who do I need to impress? "Build it and they will come", that is exactly what the top search engine company did and that is who you need to impress. With over 75% of searches performed excluding their rules would be the death of your website.

For the Layman SEO is a big term. For many that "talk about SEO" do not even understand the basics. The bottom line here is that website creation is just the first step. Just as much and even more time and money can be spent on SEO as page creation. In most cases more if SEO implemented.

Where do you start? Look at what your competition is doing by visiting their websites and look at their data. <right click> and <view source>. Look at their meta tags, keywords, descriptions and compare the text you read on the screen and formulate relevancy. Compare your site using site comparison web sites. Use meta tag and keyword sites to give you real time data of how you appear to the search engine bots. Make adjustments accordingly.

Keep in mind the basics is not enough if you want to get high ranking. Depending on your keywords and or key phrases and how you develop your SEO campaign and how it relates to your product or service will determine how much time and money you will have to spend to get good page rank.

Search Engine Optimization is a science. It is not simple. It is not something that anyone can truly understand in its entirety. It is continuously changing due to the changes in algorithms. SEO is a never ending process and needs to be part of your advertising budget as it effects your business on a daily basis.

One more bit of information. There are many key factors in good SEO and how your page gets ranked. We know this due to testing and information gathering and compared it to successful plus3 and up websites. Site Creation, Back Linking, Social Media and Geo Targeting are major factors.

• Website creation: Basic SEO in place.

• Back links: Validates Relevancy to your website.

• Social Media: We have seen FB pages out rank the dot com for the same business.

• Geo-Target: Narrows the field and points to a specific area geographically.

We are continuously working on this site to improve Eagle Studios rankings. As we improve each day, we will prove that we can improve your rankings in the process by just adding the BASICS.
